6 Ways to Use Tea Tree Essential Oil in Your Everyday Beauty Routine

Tea tree oil, or melaleuca oil, is extracted from the plant Melaleuca alternifolia through steam distillation. This oil has been used throughout Australia for the past century to help treat a number of skin diseases and infections. However, did you know that tea tree essential oil can also be used in your beauty routine?

Here are just 6 ways that you can use tea tree essential in your normal beauty routine:

1. Prevent acne and blemishes.

Tea tree is one of the best essential oils to use for natural acne treatment. Some studies have even found this essential oil to work as well as benzoyl peroxide without the unpleasant side effects. In addition, tea tree oil helps relieve inflammation and has found to be effective in treating eczema and reducing psoriasis. To make an all-natural acne face wash, combine a few drops of therapeutic tea tree essential oil with honey.

2. Remove makeup.

Tea tree oil also works as a natural makeup remover. Instead of using chemical solutions from the store, you can create a gentle makeup remover at home by adding 10 drops of tea tree oil to ¼ cup of canola oil. Store this solution in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid and keep in a cool, dark place.

3. Moisturize dry cuticles.

Tea tree essential oil can help heal and soften cracked or dry cuticles. It is often also used to fight fungus on fingers and toenails. To create the ultimate softening blend, combine tea tree oil with jojoba oil and lavender essential oil and apply to dry cuticles. The lavender also works to help heal and has anti-inflammatory properties.

4. Apply as a non-chemical deodorant.

Tea tree essential oil’s antimicrobial properties help eliminate body odor by eliminating the bacteria on the skin that causes this odor. This makes it the perfect ingredient for an all-natural deodorant. Mix tea tree essential oil with fractionated coconut oil and baking soda to create a free smelling natural deodorant.

5. Use as a natural hand sanitizer.

Tea tree oil has antimicrobial properties that help kill bacteria. This makes tea tree essential oil perfect for making a natural hand sanitizer that won’t dry out your skin like chemical alternatives. To make, combine a few drops of tea tree essential oil with aloe vera, witch hazel, and vitamin E oil. You can also add lavender essential oil for a refreshing scent.

6. Create a soothing, healthy shampoo.

Tea tree essential oil has been shown to help improve scalp and hair health. This oil can remove dandruff and sooth dry skin. Some people have even found it effective in treating lice. You can make an all-natural rejuvenating shampoo at home by combining a few drops of tea tree essential oil, aloe vera oil, coconut milk and any other essential oils you enjoy like lavender.

Tea tree oil can help solve some of the biggest beauty issues that you encounter every day. With the natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that tea tree essential oil can offer, it should not only be part of your beauty kit but also your medicine cabinet. Our oils are 100% pure, natural, and therapeutic grade with no additives or dilution. For topical use, do not forget to use with a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil.
